Wish You Were Here

Harvest, UK/OBI - CBS Sony, Japan (1975)

Columbia, USA (1975)

Оказалось, что американская версия крупнее и по настроению иная. Идея была посвятить альбом Барету, которого НЕТ. А у американцев сплошная покатуха. Британский больше нравится и по духу альбома точнее.

When it happened: April 1975
Where: The backlot of the Warner Brothers Studio, Burbank, California
Why: Designer Storm Thorgerson worked with the band on their previous album, The Dark Sid of the Moon.
This time, he loaded the sleeve with symbolism relating  to the album's main theme - absence and loss.

The Businessman - Danny Rogers (Titanic, Daredevil). For his handshake he pocketed $250.
The Burning man - Ronnie Rondell Jr. (Lethal Weapon, Speed, The Crow)
Rondell was paid $500 for his troubles.
The handshake- a sly dig at American culture, according to Thorgerson. "They tend to engage in a handshake with little meaning," - he reveals. "It's meant to be a meaningful gesture, but the way American do it, it doesn't mean shit. It's that absence thing again."
